LISTEN TO THE PODCAST NOW:
I love the fact that my human brain can consciously accept or reject any idea that I want to and this is something that I now try to practice daily.
Even my own ideas that I’ve held onto for a while.
Particularly ideas about myself, my place in the world, my industry, my career, my voice, my music and my self-worth.
Particularly those ideas is where it becomes most powerful.
Many people go along in life arbitrarily accepting what is given to them, feed to them, and told to them as if it’s all truth.
I want you to ask yourself when is the last time that you had a chance to consciously decide whether or not to accept or reject an idea about yourself?
You cannot be forced to think ideas that you don’t want to but we sort of walk around thinking horrible thoughts about ourselves as if someone put them there and these thoughts ultimately decide what your results are going to be in life.
Once you accept a thought consciously it becomes embedded in your subconscious mind and any thought that becomes embedded in your subconscious mind eventually forms a belief and those are habits that you live by.
So what thoughts you are consciously deciding to accept and reject are very important to your belief system and your results.
In a perfect world we should question everything that comes past us, but that’s not really possible nor is it wise to be in constant question. But there are definitely some thoughts that you can reprogram by questioning and putting them up for acceptance or rejection again.
How to accept or reject thoughts…
Step 1 – To listen (become aware of a thought)
Step 2 – Ask yourself does this thought serve me positively?
Step 3 – Do I want to accept it or Reject it?
Now I talk about resistance a lot as well. They say what you Resist Persists.
Rejection is different to resistance.
Resistance feels more like “I wan’t to stop thinking it but I can’t and I don’t want to think it anymore”. There is no empowerment in that thought. There is no empowerment in resistance, resistance is like trying to fight a negative thought with a negative emotion. It just keeps you stuck in the pits, negative.
When people say to me, I got rejected by that program again and I”m SO ANGRY, I’m going to get back at them by getting really famous. I’m like “okay so you plan of fighting a negative with a negative and staying negative. Famous and Angry sounds like a really bad combination I can think of a few people who got there like that and it never works out too well.
The next time you see a negative post about the industry or have a conversation with a friend who says “This industry is horrible…yada, yada, yada” you can internally say before that thought even walks in the door, nope that thought isn’t welcome here, I reject it. Maybe you have other thoughts that are already similar who are sort of welcoming it in, you get the chance to say, no, and maybe see those thoughts out the door as well while you’re at it.
Create the thought eco-system you want, that will thrive and grow and yield results that are favourable to you in your life.
