Ever have to qualify your full-time Musician status in public?
No matter what we all have a prejudice of some sort. Many people believe that ALL Musicians are broke or just play for free because they love it. Yes! I do love it! Of course I do, but I also need to pay real money for real services like electricity and water. I cannot play for free. Ever been in a situation where you have to qualify yourself further? I’ve been in this position hundreds of times in social settings when the inevitable “What do you do for a living?” questions surfaces. I’ve become really comfortable with it, but this past weekend I found myself slipping back into some old thinking when put in a situation that I didn’t know I was going to be in. Do you feel like this sometimes? Do you consciously ask yourself why and try to change it?
If you don’t it might be time that you do, it might be limiting your ability to proceed as a major money earner.
