Ep #74 - The Pressure of Staying Relevant

How to relieve the pressures of having to be CURRENT all the time!

One of my amazing program members recently pointed out to me that there are pretty incredible pressures on Artists, Musicians and Songwriters to stay relevant in the business.

And that pressure can lead to having to spend time, energy and MONEY on constantly bringing out new music, projects, to stay on the radar. I thought was a really insightful observation so I decided to break it down a little to see if I can help to relive those pressures by looking at it in a different light.

I think there are two reasons that Artists feel pressured to stay relevant one is industry and the other is fans!

And I think those two reason weight heavily 80/20 towards Industry pressures 80 and fans 20. I think that we feel we need to start on the radar so that industry people don’t forget that we are there and they see that we are moving forward constantly. It’s really such an incredibly unfair pressure to put on Artists. Especially when industry aren’t taking any risks on new Artists in recent times.

So in my mind we need to swing that pressure pendulum in the opposite direction. 20/80 industry/fans and the reason is that industry will quickly become interested when they see how relevant you are to a loyal fanbase!
