LISTEN TO THE PODCAST NOW:
So this is for all y’all including myself who need to remember to just keep the faith.
You might be one day, one hour, one month, or one year away from crushing a goal you’ve been working towards.
Now is not the time to quit.
But I know, I understand how difficult it is to keep the faith, so today I”m gonna pump you up if you’re feeling down and give you a couple of simple techniques to use if you’re in that place where you’re feeling like it’s not working, nothing is working, I’m gonna give this up.
The plan is never perfect and the path there NEVER EVER straight or what you think it’s going to be, so you’ve got to find a way to keep the faith, always.
Here are my steps to keeping the faith when it feels like you’re done.
Is to remember that you are having a very emotional reaction right now. Probably not a good one. Maybe it’s tainted with thoughts of failure, being a loser, no one wants I”m putting out there, whether it be music, songs, courses, sometimes even friendship. If you are feeling very emotional about it right now, know that you are not equipped to make a decision about quitting when you feel like that. You gotta take yourself out of the drivers seat for a second and let the emotions play out. You’re only job is to feel those emotions. If that’s where you are right now. Most people start panicking, trying to solve for that situation, especially if you’re feeling desperate for a result. Maybe that result is money needed to pay the bills. Give yourself time to let the feelings come and feel them and let them go again. That might take a day, a few days.
Once you’ve come down from that super heightened emotional state, you can then just write down the facts. I want you to take a pen and paper or take to your laptop and write out the facts about the situation, the problem, the goal, the issue and just write the facts. And to be clear facts are facts, I need to make $2500/month I”m currently making $500/month. Those are facts, if you start injecting hearsay, opinions, ideas, thoughts into, you’ll need to stop and separate out that from the facts. And then write down all the ways that you’ve been able to solve this before if you have. If you haven’t yet this is a new thing, a new goal, then write down a bunch of ways that you can try to move in the right direction.
Get hungry, hopeful for a new direction, get some good energy going towards it and decide on your path. Your tendency to want to inject negative thoughts back into it is going to be huge. But you’ve got to use this knowledge of how to move past it and apply it to the situation. The alternative is that you go down a negative road, a dark street, start telling yourself very bad things about yourself and your situation and that never brings you success.
You must know that this is not about your abilities, this is about your ability to persevere.
So beating yourself up about what you’re capable of is not going to help.
This is a test of you being able to keep the faith, not of you being able to win all the time.
In summary, first you must get past the emotions and let them flow through you and past you, then you must look at the facts and just the facts and decide on a path forward. That is how you keep the faith. You get back up, you keep going, you know that this is about faith not winning.
You’re up to the task, because you’re amazing and you’re here listening and working on yourself.
