Episode #143 – The Triangle of POSSIBILITIES

I was thinking today about the best coaching that I can do.
I’m always thinking about my clients, and bringing them ideas, new techniques, and things that are really relevant to their own situations.

I like to do these mini and major challenges for myself, I find I work well that way, and so I’ll challenge myself to do something for most times 12 months at a time, or I’ll challenge myself by asking a really difficult question that might bring me new perspective or higher quality coaching to my clients.

So today I have challenged myself with this question.

What if I was suddenly told that I only had one session left with every person I coach, and that session had to be the same content for everyone, what would that session be about?

What would I make sure to go over with such clarity that they would never forget that lesson and be able to use it for many many years to come.

And it took me a while to come up with the answer, because as a one-on-one coach, I am so used to tailoring my sessions to everyone’s current situation to make it really relevant and usable.

But it was such a great question that I HAD to challenge myself to answer it really well and to bring you that answer today.

So I started looking at the 3 foundations that I teach, I thought that might be a great framework to go over and I started looking at the Thought Model that’s a amazing model to help change your thoughts to get different results and to bring awareness to the thoughts that are controlling your current feelings actions and results, and it can used all the time. But that takes time to really master and embrace, that was definitely a contender for the one last session. And then I remembered something that I learned really early on that changed my life and it’s something that I might even ask people before they even decide they want to coach with me that can change theirs.

The transformation surrounding digging into this awareness is so huge that I’ve had clients who transformed their results based on just one conversation with me before they even officially became my clients.

And that awareness is this…

Most people simply don’t believe that what they want to achieve is even possible.

Think about that for a second and really ask yourself this question.

Do you really truly believe that what you desire to achieve is really a possibility? And if the answer is no, why?

When I talk to really passionate, creative people who are in music because they love it but who also realize that they need to make a good amount of income to live and be able to provide for themselves and their family and they tell me that they really want to be a viable financially secure full-time artist but they actually don’t even believe that’s possible. I’m like “well let’s start there then…” 

Why would you be upset over chasing a dream that isn’t yet coming true and yet you don’t even think could be a reality? 

And I’m going to take it another couple of steps further and say that some people think it’s possible but only for a select few and then there is a laundry list of things out of your own control as to why it’s possible for the select few.

So they have the money, they have the connections, they got lucky, they were in the right place at the right time, they started younger than me. Etc, etc.

Let me tell you this though…

I’ve seen artists grow their careers from zero dollars, I’ve seen artists who were given a large sum of money from their parents to put into their careers. Who are in the same place as the person who started with zero. I’ve seen artists who had backing from big investors and who knew all the right people and none of those things are common to the level of success that artists see. None.
What is common to each and everyone, is the pure belief and faith they had that this was possible.

I’ve seen artists, build really great relationships from nothing, be smart about the business and invest, and reinvest in things that matter.

For those that might be thinking well my issue isn’t that I don’t think it’s possible. I just think that most people who make have all those things, and I don’t have any of those things so…Well that means you still don’t think it’s possible for you! Same thing!

 and some people do believe it’s possible and it’s possible for them, but don’t know how to become the person that it’s possible for.

This is a very important piece of the triangle of possibilities.

This is what I have now named the triangle of possibilities.

So I’ve had clients increase their income after they simply just came to the realization that they wanted to make more money and yet they really didn’t believe that they could. And as soon as they were aware of that they started to change their behaviour to match the new belief or awareness that it’s actually possible.

Right now…in the current climate and state of the world, in October 2021, many of you might be in a place where deep down you want to make much more money and achieve many more things, but you simply just have no faith or belief that it’s even possible.

With live performance being so limited this past 18/19 months it’s certainly more of a collective belief or idea that has crept back into the minds of many of the amazing artists worldwide. I get to talk to creatives from all over the world so I see that collective idea in most areas. That idea was here before the pandemic, it’s like the pandemic gave many people the permission to make it a reality. But not all people!

Because the reality is that I have clients who have tripled their income during the pandemic. Clients who have achieved different goals like becoming way more visible in the industry, becoming closer to their fanbase by focusing on their online groups, clients who’ve written full albums because they doubled down on being ready by writing great songs, clients who have gained more traction than ever before at radio because they stopped and focused on what they could do to continue to achieve their goals. Because they didn’t stop believing it to be possible because the circumstances changed.

When you believe something to be possible you don’t stop trying to achieve it because the pathway has to change or a roadblock gets thrown up at you.

You find other ways, other paths, and other possibilities.

So I would spend that hour by helping you become aware of what you truly believe about the possibility, and helping you understand the triangle of possibilities. Not only the possibility but YOUR belief about your personal ability to achieve what it is that you really truly want to achieve.
